Corporate Development Manager Job Description
The Indianapolis Public Transportation Foundation (dba IndyGo Foundation) is dedicated to supporting accessible and inclusive public mobility solutions. As a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization supporting IndyGo, the Foundation raises money to increase financial, physical and social access to public transportation in Marion County. In the past 5 years, the Foundation has grown to be a $1.7M organization.
POSITION PURPOSE
The Corporate Development Manager is responsible for building and sustaining meaningful partnerships with the business community to advance the mission of IndyGo Foundation. This frontline fundraising role focuses on cultivating, securing, and stewarding corporate sponsorships and gifts with an annual goal of $300,000-$400,000. As the Foundation’s primary representative to the business community, the incumbent must demonstrate how accessible and equitable transit benefits businesses and the broader Marion County community. This position works closely with staff, Board members and IndyGo colleagues to ensure alignment in funding priorities and relationship building.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Implement short- and long-term action plans for identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding gifts at all levels from corporations and businesses
- Build relationships with large and small businesses sharing the importance of transit and finding partnership opportunities
- Solicit sponsorships and gifts from businesses and corporations including the creation of proposals and presentations
- Meet regularly with corporate prospects, engaging other staff and Board as appropriate. Expectations are an average of at least 2 solicitation meetings per week.
- Represent the Foundation at networking events such as Indy Chamber events proactively building relationships in the community with potential partners
- Develop a working knowledge of public transportation, IndyGo activities and the organization’s funding priorities specifically so as to articulate a compelling case for support to all constituents
- Participate in planning and executing special events such as the Golf Outing.
- Work collaboratively with Foundation staff to ensure the organization achieves overall fundraising and strategic plan goals
- Work collaboratively with IndyGo staff to ensure alignment in corporate partnerships
- Ensure donor meetings and solicitations are tracked in Raiser’s Edge with supporting materials saved on the shared drive
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
The Corporate Development Manager will be a self-motivated, creative, and performance-driven individual. An ideal candidate for this position will possess the following qualities and attributes:
- Bachelor’s degree or any combination of education and experience that would provide an equivalent background
- At least 3 years of fundraising or sponsorship sales experience in a non-profit organization
- Experience with customer relationship management software, such as Bloomerang or Raiser’s Edge.
- Knowledge of the Indianapolis corporate community

- Experience tailoring proposals to corporate social responsibility goals

- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Ability to remain stationary for long periods of time and to move intermittently throughout the workday
- Some local travel with mileage reimbursement available or free transportation on IndyGo
SALARY AND BENEFITS
Salary Range: $60,000-$75,000

About IndyGo Foundation
IndyGo Foundation is a 501c3 nonprofit organization with the mission to connect people to their lives through accessible, equitable and inclusive public transportation solutions. Our six employees are employed by IndyGo Foundation with access to health benefits through IndyGo. Our office is open 8am to 5pm with our core work hours being 9am to 2pm. While there is flexibility with hours worked, employees are expected to be available during the core work hours daily.
